About Second Wind Accordion Repair:

Built from a lifelong connection to music, craftsmanship, and accordions. Serving musicians, collectors, students, and accordion enthusiasts who are looking for dependable repairs.

Owned and operated by Kalei Yamanoha, Second Wind Accordion Repair is based in Sonoma County, California. Over the years, Kalei has spent as much time around accordions at the workbench as he has on the stage.

From 2014–2018, Kalei apprenticed under Skyler Fell at Accordion Apocalypse Repair in Petaluma, California, where he developed hands-on experience in tuning, restoration, reed work, maintenance, and mechanical repair across a wide range of vintage and modern accordions.

Having worked as a luthier and professional musician in Hawaiʻi from 2020-2026, Kalei deepened his appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and the relationship between a musician and their instrument. His philosophies directly carry into his accordion repair.

As a musician himself, Kalei approaches his repair work with care. He considers how an instrument should feel— how it responds, projects, breathes, and behaves in real musical settings.

The name “Second Wind” reflects this philosophy— give instruments new life through careful, thoughtful repair.

A note on repair:

Accordions are deeply personal instruments. They carry history, memory, and individuality in a way few instruments do. Repair work should preserve that character.

Every instrument is approached differently depending on its condition, history, and needs of the player. Second Wind Accordion Repair exceeds functionality, focusing on responsiveness, tone, feel, and long-term playability. Repair work is approached with patience, careful attention to detail, and respect for the instrument itself.

Whether servicing heavily-played instruments, family heirlooms, or restoration projects, the goal is always the same: preserve the character of the instrument while bringing back reliability, responsiveness, and musicality.
